Boobs

Firstly, I LOVE BOOBS!

I want to save all the boobies in the world from trouble and pain. I want boobies to live forever!

There is a big reason for this….

Breast Cancer is a disease that has hugely affected my life, my mother died of it when I was just six.

Last year I made a two part documentary for Sky One about breast cancer. Since then I have become involved with a few charities.

My message is largely about prevention not cure, and mostly aimed at young women.

Breast cancer, if caught early is very likely not to become too problematic, but that is the key…catching it early. We all, no matter what age need to check our breasts regularly, it is so important.

Please check out www.coppafeel.org for all the details you need to know about early detection and what to look out for.

The founder of the charity Kristin Hallenger was diagnosed at just 23, so she knows all too well about the importance of early detection. She is my inspiration and a great friend, please take a look at her site and read her story.

  1. Good stuff Dawn!

So many of my friends just don’t think they need to check their boobs.the it’ll never happen to me mindset. Will spread the message.

    Keep up the good work!
    Xx

  2. Had kinda heard of this website a while ago but good to actually see it and read about how to check my boobs properly!

    Thanks

    Gx

  3. I love it, I just wish they did a mastectomy style one, for us girls who copped a feel and found cancer – I would love one but they are not designed for us girls in mind, but I loved the video and I think Kris is a total total star, as are you for promoting coppafeel. x

  4. Awww you and Kris both rock! It’s amazing how many girlies don’t check or think they don’t need to because they’re young. I didn’t…

I met Kris doing the ad last year – superwoman in the making!

    x

  5. if yours need checking give me a bell,
im a helpfull soul n here to assist

  6. Hi Dawn,

I once saw a T-Shirt worn at a Breat Cancer rally that read “Yes, they are fake. My real one’s tried to kill me.”

  7. It’s really important to spread the word. It’s inspiring that you are turning something that has been a real negative in your life, to something so positive. I stupidly assume everyone knows about what to look out for but only the other day, a friend was telling me over coffee that she’d found a lump several months ago and hadn’t had it checked. She assumed it would hurt if it was a problem. Keep at it and people will listen.

  8. Read your article in the Daily Mail yesterday – it is so how I feel – lost my mum at 7 and my sister was 9. My sister had breast cancer at 40 and I had it last year – just found out we have the gene which has taken years of pushing to find this out – so now must protect the rest of my family. It is so important to be aware of this terrible disease.

  9. Hi there – mu Mum is currently dying of cancer. She got diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2009 and after treatment and surgery unfortunatley returned last year 2010, in her bones ! Which isn’t curable. I’m just enjoying each day with my Mum and hope that she stays healthy for a long while but you just never know whats going to get thrown at you in life.

To everyone out there – please dont take any of your loved ones for granted, you just never know when they are going to be taken away from you.

    Love

    Joanne

  10. Hi Dawn,I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Thanks for sharing you story.I’m 34 and have been fighting cervical cancer for nearly one year now.I have my up and down days,I can cope with that. The worst thing for me is I have a three year old son.The parting from him inbetween treatments and when I’m poorly is just heart wrenching.I don’t want him to see me at my worst as this would affect him for the rest of his life.It is hard but He keeps me fighting and positive. I think what you are doing for breast cancer is amazing.Keep up the good work :) xx

  11. Hi Dawn

Your show “My Breasts are Killing Me” was shown on Australian TV last night. Another one of your interesting programs, full of vital information.

I must say, your reporting and interviewing style is so friendly and relaxed, you make it seem absolutely effortless.

You are such a sweet heart and I felt so sorry for you having to wait endlessly for the results of the three tests. I can imagine after losing your mum at such a young age, then interviewing all the ladies with cancer that your stress levels would’ve been skyrocketing. Bet you had a few stiff drinks in between! I’m so glad the doctors could give you positive results in all three cases.

Continue your good work, Dawn. I look forward to seeing more of your programs.

  12. Hi Dawn
my grandma died of breast cancer when I was 6. It was a really hard time for the family. I’m 15 and I am terrified that I might get it in the future. What can I do ??
