The Runaway Spider

I just found a notebook with a load of poems I wrote when I was about 13/14. They are all about insects and animals. I thought I might publish them on here for a bit of fun. Let me know if your kids like them. Mind you, this one might be a bit scary!

p.s I never found the spider!

The Runaway Spider

 It’s 9.30 on a Sunday night and I’m ready to go to bed.

My head is aching, my body shaking,

My eyelids have turned to lead.

I tear off my clothes and throw them on the floor,

I want my bed like never before.

I lie down on my mattress and pull up the sheet,

I am warm and comfy from my head to my feet.

I reach out my arm to turn out the light,

As I do so I get a terrible fright.

Just above my bed on my Persil white wall,

A big, black spider sat ready to fall.
